The Recipe
Ingredients
- 16 oz Warm water (not boiling)
- 1 inch Fresh ginger root, grated or sliced
- 1/2 Fresh lemon, juiced
- 1 tsp Chia seeds
- 1 pinch Cinnamon or a dash of raw honey (optional)
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Infuse the Ginger
Place the fresh ginger slices or gratings into your warm water. Let it steep for about 3–5 minutes. Warm water helps extract the active gingerol compounds more effectively than cold water.
2. Add the Zest
Squeeze in the fresh lemon juice. Avoid using bottled lemon juice, as it lacks the live enzymes found in fresh fruit that are essential for digestion.
3. The Chia Factor
Stir in the chia seeds. Let the drink sit for another 5 minutes. You will notice the seeds start to form a gel-like coating; this fiber is what helps “sweep” the digestive system.
4. Season to Taste
If the drink is too “zingy” for you, add a tiny bit of raw honey or a sprinkle of cinnamon.
